Joint forces led by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked and captured a junta base in Hpapun District, Karen State, seizing weapons and ammunition, while a junta soldier defected with his firearm, according to a statement from KNU Mutraw District.

On September 14, joint forces under Battalion 102 of KNLA Brigade 5 successfully captured the junta's "Pa Yi Thu Mee Si Ri" military outpost.

During the base capture operation, KNLA joint forces seized three MA-1 rifles, alongside ammunition and other military gear.

Separately, on September 13, a 50-year-old junta soldier from Company 1 under Light Infantry Battalion 357 (Military Operations Command 12) defected to KNLA Brigade 5, Battalion 102, bringing with him one MA-1 rifle, a BA-100 magazine, and live ammunition.

KNLA joint forces are currently carrying out clearance and area-control operations within the surrounding domain of the captured Pa Yi Thu Mee Si Ri base.
