RPG event in Kachin State, Bhamo Township area, Myanmar on Sun 13th September 2026

Revolutionary forces led by the KIA are conducting clearance operations to hunt down routed junta soldiers fleeing after their column collapsed in Bhamo Township, Kachin State, with two captains among the more than 30 prisoners of war captured, a KIA frontline source stated.

On September 13, KIA joint forces ambushed junta troops advancing from Bhamo near Kong Ja Yang village, forcing them to retreat with heavy losses. The military column included newly conscripted soldiers sent as reinforcements to Bhamo. Intercepted while moving toward Kong Ja Yang and Hein Aung, the junta forces suffered over 40 dead, more than 30 captured as prisoners of war, and lost a significant amount of weapons and ammunition. Two captains were among those taken alive.
