At approximately 12:56 PM on September 13, a junta jet fighter carried out three bombing runs and strafed with machine guns near the foot of the hill and suspension bridge where the historical Oo Ray Taung Pagoda is located in Ponnagyun Township. During the attack, 38-year-old Daw Soe Soe from Zedi Yin village in Ponnagyun Township was killed by shrapnel, while 9-year-old Ma Phyu Phway and 71-year-old Daw Kyawt Sein sustained injuries.

Additionally, two visitors from Rathedaung Township who were visiting Ponnagyun Township—56-year-old U Moe Moe and 43-year-old U Aung Win Maung—were injured in the strike. U Moe Moe later succumbed to his severe injuries.
