On 14 September 2021, a drone by an unknown military forces conducted an airstrike on Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces and pro-Iran militias positions in Al-Heri town in Deir ez Zor countryside, killing 3 Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces members, and injuring others. The strikes destroyed three trucks carrying logisitical and military reinforcements for Iranian militias in Al-Bukamal area.
