On 9 September 2026, time of day unclear, suspected IRGC forces launched an unidentified projectile (coded as air/drone strike based on previous activity) that directly impacted an unnamed LNG tanker while anchored off the Coast of Khor Fakkan (Khor Fakkan, Ash Shariqah) in the Gulf of Oman. No additional information was immediately available on the ship or the incident. The IRGC claimed to have targeted 8 oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation to overnight US attacks on 5 Iran-affiliated tankers as well as 10 additional 'violating ships' that attempted to pass through a 'prohibited and unsafe zone' that day.
