On 7 September 2026, Russian forces carried out an air strike on bordering Luzhky settlement, Sumy. Civilian casualties unknown. Russian forces (units of the 'North' group using operational-tactical aviation, combat UAVs, missile forces, and artillery) struck the Ukrainian personnel and equipment, including a territorial defense brigade (coded to Ulanove) near Luzhky. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian military lost: an armored combat vehicle, eight vehicles and up to 180 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Kyianytsia, Luzhky, Ulanove and Ivolzhanske [Russian MoD reported 180 fatalities.
