Missile event in Jordan on Wed 9th September 2026
9th September 2026
On 9 September 2026, around midnight, Iranian forces fired ballistic missiles that hit the US forces hosting Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (Az Zarqa, Az Zarqa), damaging multiple US military aircraft. An A-10 was struck and lost a wing, and about 8 F-15s sustained light damage and were returned to service. The IRGC claimed it launched attacks on 8 tankers and 2 warships, including the base in Jordan, in response to a US attack on 5 Iranian tankers, which the US carried out in retaliation for Iran targeting a US Navy warship. There were no casualties. Jordanian and US forces intercepted other missiles on the same date (coded separately).
