On 9 September 2026, Iraqi F-16 warplanes in cooperation with Counter-Terrorism Service carried out four airstrikes targeting ISIL hideouts and sites in the area of Tal Aida in Shay Valley within the Salah Al Din Operations Command area (coded as Shay Valley, Kirkuk). The operation was based on the CTS intelligence information. Security forces began assessing the site and gathering information on losses. Two ISIL militants were killed including likely a prominent commander Abu Osama. At least one hideout was destroyed. 2 fatalities.
