On 17 September 2021, an IED of unknown origin targeted the armored vehicle of the Amajid Brigade's commander as he was headed to the brigade's camp in Lawdar district (Abyan). It is unclear who was responsible for the explosion but the source speculated that it could be the result of internal divisions caused by competition over Saudi patronage. The commander was injured and the armored vehicle destroyed.
