Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Gothenburg, Hisingen, Kvillebäcken area, Sweden on Sun 13th September 2026

An explosion occurred on Tuesday night in Hisingen in Gothenburg. The police have had a major operation at the scene.

– It happened next to a gate in an apartment building, says Morten Gunneng, officer on duty at the police.

At 11:49 p.m. on Monday evening, the first alarm of an explosion came in the Kvillebäcken area of ​​Hisingen.

– There were a large number of callers who called and said they heard a very loud bang, says Morten Gunneng.

Once on site, the police were able to locate the detonation site to a gate in an apartment building.

– No one is injured. There also appears to be limited material damage to the house, in fact we only see remnants of what detonated.

“Composite explosive charge”

A large area was cordoned off and the National Bomb Squad was called to the scene. They were able to find and secure remnants of what had detonated.

– It is some kind of composite explosive device – we have found remnants that indicate it is something that someone put together. Exactly what it is is unclear.

Shortly after five in the morning, the police announced that they had recently left the scene. They have filed a report of public danger, but no one has been arrested in the case yet.

– We are working quite openly with the case and have not locked ourselves into any particular theory, says Morten Gunneng.
