A World War Two shell found on the coast has been destroyed in a controlled explosion captured on video.
HM Coastguard Southend-on-Sea said , externalit was called by a member of the public to Chalkwell Oaze flats at 07:00 BST on Saturday.
"The decision was made to detonate it in situ, where it posed no risk to passing members of the public," it added.
The device, measuring 6in (15cm) in diameter, was destroyed by an Army explosive ordnance disposal team during low tide later in the day.
If a suspicious item is found on a beach, the advice is to immediately move to a safe space, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
