Two children were killed and their father injured in a hand grenade attack on a house in Dehiwala, a suburb of Sri Lanka's capital Colombo, on Friday morning, police said.

Two boys aged 10 and 14 died after being admitted to hospital, and their father was being treated at the same hospital, according to the police.

The attack was suspected to be the result of an ongoing clash between two organized criminal gangs, police said, adding that an investigation into the attack has been launched.
