SAA event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Manzakai, Upper South Waziristan District area, Pakistan on Tue 8th September 2026

On September 8, terrorists shot dead prominent tribal elder Malik Naik Muhammad Mehsud in the Manzakai area of Ladha Tehsil (revenue unit) in Upper South Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports Khyber Chronicles. According to initial information, the attackers targeted Mehsud and fled towards the mountainous area after the attack. The incident comes amid a series of targeted attacks against prominent tribal and religious figures in South Waziristan. On August 3, prominent religious and tribal figure Mufti Janameer was killed in a blast at Wana’s Sadar Bazaar. Two days earlier, Maulana Ismail, affiliated with JUI-F, was killed in a targeted attack in Azam Warsak. The successive attacks have raised concerns over terrorist attempts to eliminate influential local figures involved in promoting peace, social cohesion and stability in the region. Authorities are investigating the latest attack.
