On September 5, a joint team of the 199th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), including personnel from B and F Companies and the Young Platoon, recovered 14 Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dumps containing arms, explosives and other material from forests near [Nayapara village] in Bijapur District, Chhattisgarh, reports Nai Duniya. During the operation in the Pidia and Kuppaguda forest areas, Security Forces (SFs) conducted a phased search after cordoning off the area. The recoveries included seven rifles, comprising a .303 bolt-action rifle, a muzzle-loading rifle and a country-made 12-bore rifle, besides 10 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), detonators, Cordex wire, wireless sets, IED-making material and various electrical equipment. A total of 99 items, including Maoist clothing, were recovered. The force said the material had been concealed by Maoists for use against SFs. No casualties were reported during the operation. CRPF 199th Battalion Commandant Anand Kumar said information-based operations would be intensified and the force remained committed to civilian safety and security in the region. Police said the area had previously remained vulnerable to Maoist activity.
