Grenade event in Chittagong, Khulshi-Wireless area, Bangladesh on Fri 4th September 2026

On September 4, expelled Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal leader, affiliated with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) identified as Wakil Hossain alias Boga and his associates attacked Police during operation in Khulshi-Wireless area of Chittagong District, leaving six Police personnel injured, including Khulshi Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdur Rahim, reports The Daily Star. A Police vehicle was also vandalised. Boga also threatened and verbally abused the OC of Khulshi Police Station over the phone after a case was filed against him. Police fired sound grenades to bring the situation under control. Wakil, a former joint convener of the Chittagong city unit of Swechchhasebak Dal, is a listed criminal, according to Police. Wakil is accused in 17 cases involving allegations of extortion, drug dealing, firearms offences and the use of explosives.
