Clashes erupted between the Arakha Army (AA) and the terrorist military near Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State, today, September 8, with heavy artillery shells fired by the military landing and exploding inside Basic Education High School No. 4 (BEHS 4) and residential wards, according to locals.

As fighting raged near Sittwe today after 11:00 AM, two heavy artillery shells fired by the military struck BEHS 4 and West Sanpya Ward in Sittwe.

The artillery strike damaged the window frames and shattered glass in the classrooms of BEHS 4, though no human casualties were reported. Following the artillery hits, schools and several shops in Sittwe were forced to close, locals stated.
