Mine event in Sagaing Region, Sagaing Township area, Myanmar on Wed 2nd September 2026

A mine attack targeting police providing security for a Division 33 military convoy heading toward the Northwestern Command (NaMaKha) in Monywa while extorting money from civilians left three police officers dead in Sagaing Township, the Lin Yon Nyi Naung Guerrilla Force (Sagaing) announced.

At around 9:40 AM on September 2, the Lin Yon Nyi Naung Guerrilla Force launched a mine attack against police under the military junta who were securing the road near the irrigation canal bank in Kan Village while forcibly collecting extortion money from passersby.

The mine attack resulted in the instant deaths of three police officers and left several others injured.

Following the attack, junta troops positioned in hidden posts fired heavy and small arms indiscriminately into the surrounding area. When they retrieved the bodies of the dead police officers, they also blocked roads and conducted inspections for an extended period.
