On 4 September 2021, an IED by Al Shabaab militants detonated, targeting an AMISOM UPDF and the regional governor of Lower Shabelle Region convoy in the K60 village (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle). Al Shabaab claimed killing one UPDF soldier.
