One person died and nine others were injured in a mass shooting late Saturday in Washington Park, Chicago police said.

Officers were trying to disperse a large crowd of people that had gathered on the eastern edge of the park in the 5400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when the mass shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

A 35-year-old man shot multiple times was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Six other victims — men and women ages 26 to 45 — were all in good condition at the University of Chicago, Stroger Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital, police said in a statement.

Authorities did not know the condition of the three remaining victims — ages 23, 35 and 37 — nor the hospital they were taken to.

No officers were injured.

Police did not report how many shooters fired at the crowd, and no one has been arrested.

Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the mass shooting.
