On 6 September 2021, suspected Al Shabaab militants threw a hand grenade at government security forces (SNA) at a checkpoint at the Bundoweyn bridge in Belet Weyne town (Belet Weyne, Hiraan). Eight soldiers were injured, including a civilian bystander.
