On 11 October 2019, an oil tanker belonging to the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) was attacked while traveling through the Red Sea about sixty miles off the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah. According to the Iranian officials, the tanker was struck by two missiles. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
