On 29 August 2026, in Zin Bon village (Shwegu township, Bhamo district, Kachin state), the joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and its combined forces conducted drone strikes with an FPV drone on three-vessel military council convoy sailing upstream from Shwegu town toward Bhamo town in the morning. The attack set one military vessel on fire and destroyed it. Khit Thit Media reported that the drone strikes killed 16 military soldiers including an infantry battalion commander and injured many soldiers including the commander and deputy commander of Light Infantry Division 33. Shwe Phee Myay News Agency reported that the drone strikes killed more than 10 military soldiers. Fatalities coded as 10, using the lowest estimate.
