On 1 September 2026, night, U.S. forces conducted air/drone strikes targeting unspecified targets at the Jiroft Airport (Jiroft, Kerman), causing explosions. A projectile hit an area outside the runway, and there were no casualties and no damage to airport infrastructure. The airstrikes by the US were a retaliation for the Iranian military attack against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz (coded separately).
