On 2 September 2026, time of day unclear, IRGC forces launched drones and missiles targeting the US base at the Erbil International Airport (Harir, according to some sources) (Erbil). The strikes damaged a US PSS-T surveillance aerostat equipped with EO/IR sensors to detect drones and monitor ground and aerial activity. The IRGC claimed that the attacks also destroyed a maintenance facility, technical-equipment warehouses, and the guidance system of a US surveillance balloon, set fuel tanks ablaze, and killed an unspecified number of soldiers, but no other source corroborated these claims. 0 fatalities coded.
