Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Mexico on Sun 30th August 2026
30th August 2026
On 30 August 2026, in Ojocaliente, Zacatecas, suspected members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) detonated 200 kg. of explosives hidden in a vehicle in front of the municipal police headquarters. The explosion injured two officers and at least nine civilians, and damaged 63 houses and 15 vehicles. Federal authorities arrested three men and linked the attack to the dispute between the CJNG and the Sinaloa Cartel, while state authorities claimed it was a retaliation for the capture of one of its members in the municipality of Villa Garcia earlier the same day (unknown circumstances). The CJNG had recently accused the Sinaloa police of protecting Los Mayitos Gang in the state.
