Troops recover AK-47 rifle after terrorist encounter in Sokoto

Troops of 8 Division Garrison, while reinforcing troops at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ghandi, encountered and engaged suspected terrorists along the Gundumi Road in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the terrorists fled following the encounter as troops maintained pressure on the group.

The troops subsequently recovered one AK-47 rifle abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

The recovered weapon has been secured by the troops, while operations continue to deny terrorist elements freedom of movement within the area.
