Two Girls Killed and a Buddhist Monk Dies After Two Consecutive Days of Airstrikes in Ngazun Township

A Buddhist abbot died and two girls were killed as a result of air attacks carried out by the Myanmar military in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region, according to two local sources who spoke to Red Peacock News Media.

On 6 September, military forces conducting operations in Ngazun Township reportedly launched drone attacks on several villages, including Nat Thar Taw, Myauk Kyin, Min Gyo San Pyar, and Ywar Thit Taw, after moving into the area.

A member of a local defense force said:

"We heard that one monk and two women were killed. There were many casualties and injuries."

Around 11:00 a.m. today, the military allegedly carried out another airstrike on Thar Kyin Village using a fighter jet. According to the same source, there were no civilian casualties from that attack.

A source close to the Ngazun People's Defense Organization stated:

"Military operations are taking place every day. Today they bombed Thar Kyin Village again. One monk was injured. We heard that four houses and two pagodas were damaged."

A resistance member based in Ngazun confirmed that military air attacks had occurred on two consecutive days.

Photographs reportedly received by the news outlet show the deceased monk with a severe chest wound. In Thar Kyin Village, two pagodas were damaged, and local residents were seen attempting to extinguish fires in burning homes.

An official from the Mandalay Interim Regional Administration Council told Red Peacock News Media that in the airstrike on Thar Kyin Village, one monk was injured and two pagodas and three houses were damaged.

The National Unity Government (NUG) stated earlier this month that during August, the Myanmar military committed 528 alleged human rights violations nationwide and conducted 530 airstrikes across 13 regions/states, resulting in the deaths of 139 civilians, including 18 children.
