One Civilian Killed as Military Carries Out Two Airstrikes on Thandwe in a Single Day

Rakhine State, September 7

The military carried out two aerial attacks on Thandwe Township in Rakhine State on the same day, resulting in the death of one civilian, according to a statement released by the Dwarawaddy Regional Information Center on September 7.

According to the organization, a 77-year-old woman was killed and three other civilians were injured in the airstrike.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 7, military aircraft reportedly bombed the area near the intersection of An Taw Pagoda New Road and 3rd Street in Thandwe.

The statement said that Daw Than Kywal (77) was killed, while Daw Aye Aye Kywal (70), Moe Moe Myint Aung (28), and Yan Naung Htet (28) sustained injuries.

A local resident said:

"The places hit this morning are areas with rows of market shops. They used to be busy. Many families live in that neighborhood, and there are many daily wage workers there."

The Dwarawaddy Regional Information Center also reported, with accompanying photographs, that six houses and two shop units were damaged in the attack.

The organization further stated that at around 3:00 p.m. on September 7, the military conducted another airstrike on Thandwe.

Photographic documentation published by the Dwarawaddy Regional Information Center shows damage to residential buildings.

The Arakan Army (AA) has urged residents to remain vigilant regarding threats from military air attacks, naval attacks, and artillery fire.
