Deputy Police Officer Htun Ko Ko and His Wife Killed by Gunshot Wounds in Monywa Township

The Monywa People's Defense Force (PDF) announced today (September 7) that Deputy Police Officer Htun Ko Ko and his wife, who were allegedly extorting money from local residents through threats and intimidation, were shot and killed near the prison in Thazi Village, Monywa Township, Sagaing Region.

According to the statement, a joint force that included the Monywa PDF carried out the attack at approximately 10:00 a.m. on September 5 near the prison in Thazi Village.

A representative of the Monywa PDF said:

"Since we had to enter and operate within their territory, we had to take the initiative, carry out the operation, and withdraw quickly. At present, there has not yet been any major response or movement from their side."

The same representative stated that Deputy Police Officer Htun Ko Ko and his wife were targeted because they had allegedly worked together to extort money from civilians through threats and coercion.

Regarding the recovery of the bodies, the representative said:

"They have already been taken away. It was not their side that collected them. A charitable organization from the town came and took them."

The Monywa PDF also released photographs showing a pistol and an Icon motorcycle, as well as a photograph that it said showed the deceased Deputy Police Officer Htun Ko Ko.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out by Titans Force - Monywa LPDF (Monywa Township, Area 2 People's Defense Force Combat Unit).
