Four civilians, including two children, killed and eight critically injured after airstrike in Hpruso Township

Karenni State, September 6

Four civilians, including two children, were killed and others injured after the military carried out an airstrike on Naung Pyu Village (also known as Naung Palu Village), located between Hpruso Township and the eastern part of Loikaw Township in Karenni State, despite there being no fighting in the area, according to Banyar Khun Aung, Secretary-2 of the Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC), speaking to Red Peacock News Media.

The airstrike reportedly took place yesterday (September 5) at around 11:30 a.m. As a result, four civilians, including two children, were killed.

IEC Secretary-2 Banyar Khun Aung said:

“There were two children and two adults. A son-in-law and his father-in-law were among those who died.”

He added that 11 people were injured in the attack, and eight of them are in critical condition.

The military had also carried out an airstrike on the Kyauk Kyar Ward area of Mawchi Town beginning on September 1, which resulted in the deaths of nine civilians.
