Two hitmen traveling in an SUV they had just violently carjacked were arrested by members of an inter-agency task force—comprising law enforcement units from all three levels of government—during a security operation in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
In a statement, the Security Cabinet announced the capture of the two men, whose identities were not disclosed. One is an adult wearing blue jeans, a black cap, and a white-and-blue plaid shirt; the second is a young man wearing jeans and a brown T-shirt. The intervention took place after security forces intercepted a late-model, dark gray Changan CS55 SUV that had been stolen minutes earlier in a neighborhood of the Sinaloan capital. During the inspection of the vehicle, officers seized the following items:
3 high-powered long guns
12 firearm magazines
358 live rounds of various calibers
6 ballistic plates
3 tactical vests or plate carriers
The two detainees, along with the weaponry, tactical gear, and recovered vehicle, were transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR). This authority is responsible for compiling the case file and determining the suspects' legal status.
