Casualties Reported on Both Sides in Battle at Myitche BPI

Magway, September 4

A clash broke out at a BPI outpost in Myitche (Mritche) town, Pakokku Township, Magway Region, between resistance forces and junta troops stationed there. Casualties were reported on both sides, according to two local sources who spoke to Red Peacock News Media.

At least two local sources said the fighting occurred this morning.

One local source said:

"The resistance forces launched the attack. There were casualties on both sides."

Another local source told Red Peacock News Media that at least two resistance fighters were killed. The source said they did not yet know the extent of casualties suffered by the junta forces.

According to the Air Scout Channel and local sources, an Mi-35 attack helicopter from the Nyaung-U Air Base conducted attacks in and around Myitche town following the clash.

The military junta had previously conducted an operation in June in and around Myitche town, during which it reportedly killed at least twenty civilians.

The National Unity Government (NUG) previously stated that the military junta committed 528 human rights violations across the country during August.
