Civilian Killed by Myanmar Military Suicide Drone in Wetlet Township

Sagaing, September 4

A local source told Red Peacock News Media that a civilian was killed as a result of a suicide drone attack launched by the Myanmar military from Training Battalion No. 8 in Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region.

According to the source, the victim was a male resident from the Kan Pauk area of Wetlet Township.

At around 7:00 p.m. yesterday (September 3), two suicide drones launched from Training Battalion No. 8 in Shwebo attacked several locations within Wetlet Township, according to a statement from the Wetlet Township People's Defense Team (Pa Ka Pha).

The Wai Hin Kin Htaut (Aerial Reconnaissance) Channel also reported that the drone attack had occurred.

The Wetlet Township People's Defense Team further stated that on August 31, a Myanmar military fighter jet carried out an airstrike that injured a resident of Ywar Nan Village in Wetlet Township and damaged homes in the village.

The National Unity Government (NUG) reported that during August, the Myanmar military committed 528 human rights violations across the country.

According to an NUG statement issued on September 2, the Myanmar military conducted a total of 530 airstrikes across 13 regions of Myanmar during August.

The NUG said that Sagaing Region experienced the highest number of airstrikes, resulting in the deaths of 139 civilians, including 18 children under the age of 18.
