Grenade event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Katlang, Mardan District area, Pakistan on Mon 31st August 2026

Two terrorists were killed during Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the mountainous area of Katlang in Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 31, reports The Khyber Chronicles. According to the CTD, the operation was launched following intelligence indicating that a group of terrorists were present in the mountainous terrain of Babozai, Katlang, and was allegedly preparing to descend from the mountains to carry out a terrorist activity. The IBO resulted in the killing of two terrorists, while other terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The CTD said that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists. The recovered material reportedly includes, two submachine guns (SMGs), one hand grenade, six magazines, and multiple rounds of ammunitions.
