SAA event in Narayanganj, Rupganj area, Bangladesh on Mon 31st August 2026

On August 31, Demra Thana Chhatra Dal convener, affiliated with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mohammad Masud Rana and his associate Tariqul Islam (Tapas) were arrested with weapons from Rupganj area of ??Narayanganj District, involved in the shooting incident at the house of Demra Thana BNP convener SM Reza Chowdhury Selim in Dhaka, reports Prothom Alo. Two pistols, a single-barrel shooter gun and eight bullets used in the attack have been recovered. Police stated that eight people led by Masud Rana attacked the house of the BNP leader. It was reported that Chhatra Dal leaders and activists opened fire at the BNP leader's house due to a dispute over preventing drug sales and controlling local extortion. CCTV footage showed that at around 4:10 am on August 28, 2026, two men on a motorcycle first arrived in front of BNP leader SM Reza Chowdhury's house in Sarulia area of ??Demra in Dhaka. No one was injured in the shooting incident. Later, Reza Chowdhury filed a case with Demra Police Station as the plaintiff in the incident.|
