Afghanistan United Front killed a Taliban intelligence operative in the Minar Chowk area of Spin Boldak District of Kandahar Province, as posted in X on August 31.|On August 31, Taliban administration in Kandahar said that Governor Mullah Shirin, a close associate of Taliban Supreme Leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, had ordered police commanders in 11 Districts to tighten security and increase patrols, reports Afghanistan International. Mullah Shirin instructed Police commanders to step up round-the-clock patrols to maintain security and to improve coordination with other security and administrative bodies. The meeting also reviewed the security situation and stressed efforts to prevent the cultivation, trafficking, buying and selling of narcotics. Shirin was appointed Taliban Governor of Kandahar on May 4, 2023, replacing Mohammad Yousuf Wafa.
