SAA event in Dhaka area, Bangladesh on Sun 30th August 2026

On August 30, three people were shot and injured, identified as tea shop owner Alamgir (33), pedestrian Siam (18) and pedestrian Asha Akhter (20), by a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader identified as Mohammad Monir Hossain in Gendaria of Dhaka, in a narco-related incident, reports Prothom Alo. An internal Police report on the incident said that, focusing on expanding dominance over drugs, an active member of Ward 40 Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mohammad Monir Hossain and his nephew Russell beat up the people of Auto Sajal, a drug dealer and armed miscreant. Later, Monir Hossain cut off the electricity connection of the area and opened fire indiscriminately with an illegal pistol he had. Later, they fled the scene. Three people were shot in the incident. They have been sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital.
