On August 29, Security Forces (SFs) recovered explosives, ammunition and other materials from a suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dump near Pegadapalli village under Basaguda Police Station limits in Bijapur District, Chhattisgarh, reports Telangana Today. During the joint operation by Basaguda Police and the District Reserve Guard (DRG), security personnel apprehended suspected Maoist aide Bogam Lakhmu, 39, a resident of Chinnagelur under Tarrem Police Station limits. Police said Lakhmu admitted to being a member of the Chinnagelur unit of the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (DAKMS), an organisation associated with the CPI-Maoist, and to transporting and concealing Maoist materials. The recovery included INR 50,050, one Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL), 18 BGL cells, 12 arrow bombs, one hand grenade, 15 live .303 rounds, 31 BGL cartridges, an empty Indian Small Arms System (INSAS) assault rifle magazine, electrical wire, three-round chargers and an emitter lead. Lakhmu was booked under relevant provisions of the Explosives Act and other laws, produced before a court and sent to judicial remand. Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Umesh Prasad Gupta said anti-Maoist operations would continue.
