On August 28, Security Forces (SFs) recovered a concealed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dump containing firearms, explosives, ammunition and camp-use materials near Matrabadi village under Daringbadi Police Station limits in Kandhamal District, Odisha, reports OMMCOM News. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint operation involving the Special Operations Group (SOG), Border Security Force (BSF) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) was launched in the Maoist-affected area. During a systematic search, DVF personnel detected the dump, following which a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was deployed. The recovered items included two-bore rifles, a single-shot rifle, one SBL grenade, 19 electric detonators, two tiffin-box Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a bundle of Cordex and two gelatin sticks. Security Forces also seized 13 rounds of .303 ammunition and 10 rounds of single-shot ammunition, besides other articles used in Maoist camps. Kandhamal Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramendra Prasad said the operation involved nine teams and that similar searches would continue in vulnerable areas.
