On August 28, the Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. Troops detected suspicious movement of an alleged infiltrator along the LoC in the morning and challenged him. The intruder opened fire, prompting retaliatory firing by the troops. The infiltrator reportedly escaped and is believed to be hiding in the area, possibly with accomplices. The Army launched a massive search operation to locate the intruder and other suspected infiltrators. Searches were underway in the Rumlidhara area of Nowshera, while senior Army officers were monitoring the operation. The incident highlights continued attempts to infiltrate J&K through the LoC.
