Grenade event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar area, Pakistan on Wed 2nd September 2026

Four Fitna al-Khwarij [FaK, a State term for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its associated groups] terrorists were eliminated during a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Badaber area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on September 2, reports The Khyber Chronicles. The CTD Peshawar had received information regarding the presence and movement of terrorists in Badaber. Earlier, TTP ‘commander’ Tahir alias Muawiya, a resident of Shakas in Khyber District, had reportedly been spotted moving around the area along with other associates. Acting on the intelligence, CTD Peshawar constituted special SWAT teams and deployed them at potential entry and exit routes in the area to intercept and arrest the terrorists. During the operation, two motorcycles carrying suspected individuals were signalled to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects abandoned their motorcycles and opened fire on the Police party. CTD personnel returned fire in self-defence and to apprehend the terrorists. The exchange of fire continued for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. After the firing stopped, security personnel launched a search operation at the site and surrounding areas. Four terrorists were found eliminated, while other terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Three submachine guns, a pistol, a hand grenade, mobile phones, three magazines and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered from the eliminated terrorists.
