|Two Afghan nationals (identities not revealed) were killed in an armed confrontation with Tajik border guards after suspectedly crossing into Tajikistan illegally during a suspected drug smuggling operation in Fathobod border area of Khatlon Province, along the Tajikistan-Afghanistan frontier. The men, were residents of Imam Sahib District of Kunduz Province, allegedly ignored orders to surrender and opened armed resistance against border guards. Security forces responded, killing both men during the operation. Authorities said border guards recovered 17 kilograms of hashish, an AK-47 rifle, a Makarov pistol, and two backpacks from the scene.
