On August 27, five Naga civilians were killed and one injured in a suspected Kuki militant ambush along the Imphal-Tamenglong (IT) Road between Makui Ashang and Thanamba Naga villages in Kangpokpi District, Manipur, reports The Imphal Times. The victims were travelling towards Senapati when unidentified gunmen reportedly opened fire on their vehicle. Four civilians were killed on the spot, while another critically injured person later succumbed to injuries. The deceased were identified as Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, M. Wijunamai, Anil Wijunamai, Wisobou Charenamai and Wisobou Charenamai. Gaikamang Ringkangmai sustained injuries in the attack. The United Naga Council (UNC) accused the Kuki National Front-Presidential (KNF-P) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) of involvement in the attack, The Hindu adds.
