25th August 2026
On August 25, Security Forces (SFs) recovered explosives and other Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist)-related materials from the Kanhargaon Forest under Bande Police Station limits in Kanker District, Chhattisgarh, reports ETV Bharat. Acting on intelligence, a joint team comprising the District Force, Border Security Force (BSF) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) conducted a search operation in the area and foiled an alleged Maoist plot. The recovery included 40 detonators and two steel tiffin bombs filled with gunpowder, weighing 10 kilograms and five kilograms, respectively. The recovered explosives were subsequently neutralised by the BDS. Kanker Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikhil Rakhecha described the recovery as a major success for the SFs. The operation was part of intensified anti-Maoist search operations in the forested areas of Kanker and other Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected districts of Chhattisgarh. Rakhecha stated that SFs would intensify search operations in the forest areas of Kanker in the coming days to locate further concealed explosives and other Maoist material.
