SAA event in Chhattisgarh, Munurkonda Forest, Sukma District area, India on Mon 24th August 2026

On August 24, Security Forces (SFs) recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives allegedly concealed by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the Bhandarpadar and Munurkonda Forest and hilly areas under Bhejji Police Station limits in Sukma District, Chhattisgarh, reports Times Now News. The recovery was made during a joint area-domination and search operation conducted by the District Force, District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters, based on intelligence provided by surrendered Maoists. The recovered cache included 23 weapons, comprising one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), one .315-bore rifle, one .410 musket, six Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs), five 12-bore rifles and seven locally made rifles. SFs also seized 492 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, including ammunition for AK-47, SLR and Indian Small Arms System (INSAS) assault rifles, 240 gelatin sticks, about 18 kilograms of gunpowder, five country-made hand grenades, eight large BGL cells, 23 medium BGL cells, 58 small BGL cells and 66 BGL cartridges. Several magazines, pouches, uniforms, backpacks, solar panels and medicines were also recovered. Police said further area-domination and search operations would continue to maintain peace, security and a development-friendly environment in Sukma District.
