Grenade event in Jammu and Kashmir, Shopian District area, India on Mon 24th August 2026

On August 24, Security Forces (SFs) arrested three persons during naka checking in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), and recovered two hand grenades, five Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) posters and a motorcycle, reports Daily Excelsior. The arrested persons were identified as Junaid Ahmad Dar and Junaid Muzaffer, both residents of Matulhama in Kulgam district, and Amir Yousif, a resident of Chudder in Kulgam. The motorcycle recovered from their possession bears registration number JK18B-6130. Security forces are investigating the circumstances of the arrests and the source and intended use of the grenades and HM propaganda material. The recovery of explosives along with posters of the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit indicates possible efforts to facilitate or support its activities in south Kashmir. Further investigation is underway to establish their links with active terrorist networks and identify other associates.
