In Ann Township, on the afternoon of September 3, two military columns advanced towards Ta Lai Taung Road through Thaphan Ryaung, resulting in fierce fighting between the Arakan Army (AA) and the military dictatorship on Kyaw Road in Mindon Township.

A local military source said, “There were about 160 in one line, and over 300 in two lines. They didn’t come along the road, they came up through the forest on the left and right of the road, and they were on the ridge.”

The local resident added that during the intense fighting, the reinforcements from the rear and the Thaphan Ryaung base fired drones and heavy weapons.

“The current line of battle is the first offensive line, followed by the reinforcement lines. And then the Thaphan Ryaung village is firing drones and heavy weapons.”

The military junta and the AA also clashed in the last week of August under Yodaung Mountain near Thaphanraung.

Military sources said that the fighting in Yoh Htet occurred because the military has been conducting an offensive with about 700 troops on Ta Lai Taung in Ann Township and Tha Phan Rau Kyaw Road in Mindon Township since September 3.

The Arakan Army has urged the people of Rakhine to be especially aware of the dangers of air and sea, as the military government bombed Sittwe, Ponnagyun, and Rathedaung townships from the air on September 3 and fired heavy weapons from the sea near Kyintali, Gwa Township, and Ngapali, Thandwe Township.
