SAA event in Arunachal Pradesh, New Paniduria, Tirap District area, India on Sun 23rd August 2026

On August 23, an active cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), identified as Wangchan Wangsu (31), was arrested during a joint operation by Assam Rifles (AR) and Arunachal Pradesh Police in the general area of New Paniduria, Tirap District, reports Echo of Arunachal. Wangsu, identified as a self-styled ‘private’ of NSCN-IM, was apprehended based on specific intelligence inputs. Security Forces (SFs) recovered one pistol, one magazine and five live rounds of .32 ammunition, along with INR 5,450 in cash, three Aadhaar cards belonging to different individuals, one Voter ID card, a list of phone numbers and a torchlight with charger. The apprehended cadre and recovered items were handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal action.
