On August 21, the Army detected and safely destroyed a live mortar shell along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mankote sector in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Greater Kashmir. The shell was found in the Dabraj area and was neutralised through a controlled disposal operation conducted by the Armys bomb disposal squad (BDS). Officials said the operation was carried out without incident. No loss of life or damage to property was reported. The recovery and destruction of the unexploded mortar shell highlight the continued presence of unexploded ordnance and other military remnants along the LoC in the border district.
