On August 21, two men, including a priest, were injured after a 27-year-old man allegedly stabbed them with a screwdriver inside Nanaksar Sikh Gurdwara in Edmonton, Canada, reports Daily Excelsior. The incident occurred around 5 am when the suspect entered the gurdwara and attempted to access the prayer area before being confronted by staff. The victims, aged 75 and 51, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses detained the suspect until police arrived. The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said the suspect, who was known to police and had a history of violent offences, was released from federal prison a day earlier and failed to report to a halfway house. EPSs Investigative Response Team and Hate Crimes Unit are investigating whether the attack was hate-motivated. Charges are pending. The incident occurred days after two Sikh temples in Calgary received threatening calls on August 15.
